Fins a l’Arrel (To the Root)

Premiere at the Ateneu de Girona

“Fins a l’arrel (to the root)” – a piece about pain and hurt, intolerance and rejection – but also about Love and pride, chosen family and self-acceptance. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I feel lucky to live in a bubble of acceptance and love. My family is loving and supportive, so are my friends, and I have a stable job that would never be threatened because of my sexual or gender identity. That is not the case for so many of our siblings – brought to the edge, beaten, and even killed, for being who they are.

In “Bufa-Musa Mia”, Victor presented a stunning project where he sang 18+1 songs by female Catalan composers. “Fins a l’arrel” closed this fascinating selection of pieces. I want to thank Victor from the bottom of my heart for commissioning a piece from me and trusting me through the process. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner in crime!
